Abstrakt CZ: This paper covers not only the materials analysis but also the difficulties in the assessment due to mistakenly reported wrong information. Transporter van resulted from damage of connecting rod sliding bearing and crank sliding bearing. The failure occurred upon driving 6000 km after engine overhaul. For that reason, it was necessary to establish the amount of culpability on the part of the shop or the user. The state of the materials of the original and newly supplied bearing is documented in this paper, as well as the extent and character of damage of bearings. Based on this information, it was possible to determine the cause of the engine failure. The paper is publishable owing to the fact that it does not harm the Volkswagen car company or their authorized service shops but, on the contraty, describes user`s tampering with the product. Valuable information contained in this paper includes an overview of the employed materials and technical description of sliding bearings.
