Abstrakt EN: The Early Bronze Age burials in Moravia (Czech Republic) often show evidence of secondary manipulation with burial content. This phenomenon is interpreted as evidence of looting or complex mortuary rituals that include re-opening of graves. Our analysis of the largest Moravian Únětice cemetery Rebešovice brings surprising results about the number of individuals buried at this cemetery. Missing skeletal parts and frequent multiplicity of specific skeletal elements turns emphasis to taphonomy as a crucial approach for interpretation of Únětice mortuary behavior. These findings bring new challenges to understanding of social differentiation and inequality at the beginning of the Bronze Age.
