Abstrakt EN: Induction heating of cylindrical billets is a common technological process in numerous industrial applications. As the classical way based on their heating in harmonic current-carrying inductor, however, exhibits rather low efficiency, new possibilities were looked for. Several years ago, a novel way of heating was proposed, where the billets rotated in static magnetic field produced by superconductive, direct current carrying coils. But this technology is expensive and requires a complete cryogenic infrastructure. For billets of lower diameters we started testing a possibility of their heating by rotation in static magnetic field produced by appropriately placed permanent magnets. But even when this way is more effective and relatively cheap for realization, we cannot avoid thermal losses due to excessive cooling of the fast rotating billet by ambient air.
