Abstrakt EN: This study is focused on the numerical solution of the system of Navier-Stokes equations with the parallel local time step discontinuous Galerkin _nite element method. In the first part of the study, we compare the local time stepping explicit Runge-Kutta method with the backward Euler implicit method for inviscid transonic fluidflow. The comparison is performed for the well known geometry of the GAMM channel. In the second part, the local time stepping method is extended for the numerical solution of the system of Navier-Stokes equations. The discretisation of viscous fluxes is carried out using the local discontinuous Galerkin and the second Bassi and Rebay methods. The implemented algorithms are tested for viscous fluid flow around the NACA 0012 profile and applied to the numerical solution of air flow through a clearance gap in a dry screw compressor.
