Abstrakt EN: Although electromagnetic stirring of molten metals belongs to well-known technologies, its computer simulation is not easy due to strong nonlinearities occurring in the mathematical model. The most difficult problem seems to be solution of the steady-state Navier-Stokes equation that is often characterised by slow con-vergence, oscillations or numerical instabilities. The pa-per summarises some results and shows possible difficul-ties when solving particular examples.
