Following the examples of prestigious foreign universities, the University of West Bohemia (UWB) has also implemented the courseware idea. Its goal is to gather all electronic information and materials used during courses and classes at the UWB in one place. Those will serve as perpetual help to students and teachers. The whole system is extensive, but also simple enough to satisfy needs of each faculty at the UWB. Its major advantage is a maximum integration and extraction of information, that were entered into IS/STAG and other information systems of the UWB. Courseware is integrated into the university portal technology, operating on the IBM WebSphere Portal. The goal of this paper is to clearly describe the system and to mention its advantages.
