It's Never Too Late to Start Studying

Or too early. At the University of West Bohemia, everyone is welcome – whether you've left school years ago or are just about to graduate. Course fees start from CZK 600 per semester.

Trying university studies, gaining a new qualification, exploring quantum computing or archaeology, or fulfilling a lifelong dream of earning a university degree – the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen offers dozens of courses and subjects for the public of all ages, alongside its regular degree programmes.

Applications for the winter semester usually open in August and September. Courses offered in the summer semester typically accept applications in December and January.

Study Alongside UWB Students

Attend lectures, take exams, and complete coursework together with regular students at the University of West Bohemia. Simply choose a subject that interests you – whether you need a certificate for your professional development, want to learn something new for personal enrichment, or would like to experience what studying at university is like.

Each winter semester, we offer around 80 subjects in a wide range of fields, including psychology, physics, law, economics, and history.

Applications are accepted until the end of August.

Courses for Professional Development and New Qualifications

These courses are specifically designed for the public. They have their own curriculum, duration, and assessment methods, making them an ideal choice for gaining new qualifications or advancing your professional skills.

For example, the Faculty of Education offers courses for current and future teachers, while the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering provides courses leading to certificates in technical drawing and energy systems.

A first university experience for children and secondary school students.

A First University Experience for Children and Secondary School Students

The University of West Bohemia offers a unique opportunity for young learners to experience what studying and research at a university are really like.

Primary school pupils can choose between the Children's University at the Faculty of Education and the Children's Technical University at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Applications for both programmes open in September 2026, and classes are held once a week in the afternoon.

From January, the Faculty of Education also opens registration for UniTEEN, a programme designed specifically for secondary school students.

Learning Doesn't End with Retirement

If you are retired or have been granted a third-degree disability pension and would like to continue learning, develop new skills, and meet people of your own age as well as younger generations, the University of the Third Age at the University of West Bohemia is the perfect choice.

You can enrol in individual courses or complete a two- to three-year study programme culminating in a graduation ceremony. The range of study programmes and courses is updated every year.
