Basic information on the processing of personal data

The University of West Bohemia, with its registered office at Univerzitní 2732/8, 301 00 Plzeň, ID No.: 49777513 ("UWB" or "we"), as the data controller, hereby informs the data subjects ("data subjects" or "you") about the processing of your personal data carried out by UWB and about your rights related to the processing.

Data Protection Officer

UWB has appointed a Data Protection Officer ("DPO") to ensure that the processing of your personal data is carried out in accordance with the law and UWB's internal legislation. The DPO is also the contact person for data subjects to whom you can address your questions and requests regarding the processing of your personal data.

Legal compliance and basic processing principles

The protection of your personal data is important to us and we process your personal data in accordance with generally binding legislation, in particular Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation; "GDPR").

We follow the following basic principles when processing personal data:

  • We process your personal data fairly and in a lawful and transparent manner (the principle of lawfulness, fairness and transparency);
  • We collect (and process) your personal data only for specific, explicit and legitimate purposes and at the same time do not further process it in a way that is incompatible with those purposes (purpose limitation principle);
  • we only process personal data to the extent that it is reasonable, relevant and necessary for the purposes of the processing (data minimisation principle);
  • we only process accurate personal data and update your personal data where necessary (accuracy principle);
  • we store your personal data in a form that allows your identification only for as long as is necessary in relation to the purposes of processing your personal data (storage limitation principle); and
  • We only process your personal data in a manner that ensures appropriate security of your personal data against unauthorised or unlawful processing and against accidental loss, destruction or damage (integrity and confidentiality principle).

The scope of processing of your personal data depends on your relationship with UWB, i.e., whether you are our student, alumnus, business partner, etc. Below is a list of the categories of data subjects whose categories we process. Video surveillance systems at UWB

UWB monitors some of its premises with surveillance cameras, solely for the purpose of protecting its rights, legitimate interests and property and protecting the health of persons on UWB premises, and the setting of the surveillance cameras corresponds to the achievement of this purpose. The premises concerned are always clearly marked so that it is obvious that they are monitored. In the event of illegal activity or if such activity is investigated by law enforcement or other public authorities, UWB is legally obliged to hand over the camera recordings to these authorities.
