About the University
The University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (UWB) is a public university offering over 300 study programmes across technical, natural sciences, humanities and arts. With nine faculties and four research centres, it is today a key centre of education, research and innovation in the Pilsen and Karlovy Vary regions.
The Rector of the University of West Bohemia
The University of West Bohemia in Pilsen is headed by the Rector, Prof. Miroslav Lávička, Ph.D. He graduated in mathematics and chemistry for secondary schools at the Faculty of Education of the University of West Bohemia and then continued his studies at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University. In 2011 he habilitated in the field of Applied Mathematics and in the same field he was appointed professor in 2020. He is the author or co-author of more than 100 scientific papers.
