The role of ombudsman at UWB is held by Mgr. Petr Šimon since 1st January 2024.

Mgr. Petr Šimon is an expert in the field of equal opportunities at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (UWB). His professional interests include education, culture and project management.

Since 2017, he has been responsible for HR Award and equal opportunities at UWB. He has been in charge of the creation and implementation of the Equal Opportunities Plan, which ensures a fair environment not only in terms of gender equality, but also in terms of age, origin, faith or physical disadvantage. He has been advocating for the availability of psychological support for students and staff and for making information available in English for international students and staff.

He is also chairman of the Alliance Française de Pilsen, and in 2015 received the prestigious French award of Knight in the Order of the Academic Palms for his contribution to education, science and culture.

He sees his work in the field of equal opportunities as a long-term transformation of the culture of the environment and he believes that it must not be a just formal approach, but an inner conviction and passion. He is working to ensure that the agenda is gradually taken to people’s heart and becomes a normal part of the academic environment.
